Amazon's Effort to Help Small Bussinesses

Small businesses have been negatively impacted by the sudden and rapid shift to online shopping brought on by COVID-19. Many have realized that this change is, more or less, here to stay. Therefore, a successful transition to function in the digital market is necessary for the continuation and expansion of a business.

Yesterday, I got a notification on my phone from the Amazon app prompting me to shop during the upcoming Prime Days. I clicked on the notification and when the app opened, the first thing I saw was "Support small businesses. Explore the storefront". Here is what I saw once I clicked into it:

Amazon Storefronts

Amazon Storefronts contain products from Canada-based small and medium businesses.

Meet the Business Owners

There are 4 categories under this title: Women-owned businesses, Innovators & Handmakers, Family-focused businesses, Shop local Coast to Coast.

Inside each category, business owners are introduced with a photo of them with their products and they have a chance to present their business in their own words. Readers and online shoppers have the opportunity to get to know the story behind the brand, the values of the business, and much more.

I began researching some more about Amazon - Amazon Seller University, selling plans, referral fees, Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA),

Amazon Seller University contains free training videos for sellers to learn how to sell on Amazon - create product listings faster, master key tools and applications, understand product rules and restrictions, etc.

Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) is a service provided by Amazon which allows small businesses to have their produced stored in and shipped from Amazon warehouses. There is a fee for this, however. This fulfillment fee depends on the type of product you sell and the size and weight of the product + packaging.
